whoever wins the battle in middle in the 3 shrine map wins the game.

if you full team rush middle and the other team caps the outer shrines, you have the advantage of picking off bad players trying to solo vs full team. you also have a positional advantage, rits can preplace their spirits etc.

if you split for the other 2 shrines, and are able to coordinate an attack on middle, you gain an advantage from the BC and energy shrines in the fight.

if both teams rush middle, then whoever wins, pretty much wins.

i've almost never seen both teams split before.

either way, you must win the fight at middle, other wise you're chances of winning are low.

in my opinion and experience, i'd prefer to have the BC and energy shrines. if our team loses the 5v5 fight with those benefits, then we most likely would've lost 5v5 without those benefits.

I'm happy none of you have mentioned the best strategy on that 3-shrine map yet. Just means I will have a tactical advantage as long as I can persuade my team to follow directions. I shall share of this incredible tactical insight a little into the future, I don't want to hand out freebies before I've played a little longer with the hax advantage.

What camp-base-and-wait-till-they-resign-way?

Its has three shrines??? Theres only like 3 real options. Rush BC, Rush Center, Split BC and Energy, then come back for the 5v5.

Only advantageous thing on that map is BC. You always fight 5v5. You have to with easy snares on a small map.

2 different strategies depending on which color you end up as. 5-0 and 4-1 respectively.

5-0 for bc, can't remember which color it is but the team spawning in walking distance to bc. This side has the best spawn and will win all things being equal.

4-1 bc/energy. Pass up bc and go center instead in the one case where other teams sends 5-0 bc. If they send 4-1, collapse your split through tele and kill 5v4. Any other split they send you will wipe. If they go 5-0 for center you have all advantages already and will probably win. If you are really lucky your split can "lure" 2-3 people to the energy shrine, go through tele and get middle for free.

Now enjoy yourselves kids, think of me when you're on your 23rd victory.

Splitting 4-1 on that map is asking for trouble you either go all 5 or 3-2,anything else is bad.

That really depends on what class is solo and what class comes after it. If anything more than 1 from the other team goes after it, then the rest of the players on that other team are going to get wiped by the soloers team.

If you say so, chief.

Actually your split should just retreat back through teleporter and attack their main with your full team. Unless obviously the 1v1 is so favorable it's practically a free kill.

But why would you expend that many people, when those people could be wiping the other team? No reason to go 5vs1 or 5vs2, when you can go 4vs4 or 3 (if you have BC you should win 4vs4, if not, then you probably won't win anyways), and then wipe whatever killed the soloer if they died. Obviously you would only do this with one of the good solo classes. And only if your team was decent as well.

Usually teams won't be stupid enough, but say you split 4 and 1. 4 go to BC, 1 goes to energy. Now a smart center holding team would go wipe the BC people. But fortunately smart and CB teams don't coincide often. So say they go after the soloer on the energy shrine. Well now the 4 get center and have a good chance of wiping even if 4vs5 (depending on the classes). If the 4 get wiped easily, the center team is going to win regardless. If not, then it's up for grabs. Like I said I would usually just go 5 to BC, but the 4-1 split could have it's uses sometimes. But you'd have to be a real CB tactician to know when to use it.

What do you mean expend many people? The 4 are capping bc at 4 pips, optimal cap speed. If the other team went for center 5-0 but then decides to abort and go for the 4 at bc they have already used the teleporter and will have a longer way to bc. Your split can simply follow right behind(should be a sin or caster) and voila you get a 5v5 with bc advantage.

In your other case where they send something to wipe your split, he can go back through teleporter and you still end up with advantage main v main.

4-1 simply gives you more options. Having more options = advantage and you can set the premises for the match.

4-1 demands a team with brains on all 5 members. So yeah, I usually go with the flow and go 5-0 for center shrine most of the time..

But if I'm lucky enough to get on a competent team I like to play to their strengths.

I thought you were talking about the larger split not the solo person. But we are basically agreeing with each other on the 4-1.

I logged in GW after quite a long time, to play a bit of Costume Brawl.
To my sadness, just like snowball arena, it's worse every year when it comes to fun factor.

Out of my 4 matches, my team lost all 4.

* First 2 matches, someone didn't load.
* 3rd match... we had 3 mesmers who suck this year, and enemy had nice assassins etc. I was one of the mesmers testing just how bad the skillbar is in practice (I didn't like it when I saw it). Result: it's really bad. Sure, you can interrupt assassin and blabla, but in practice, you're not going to interrupt everything every time. Not to mention, hex overlap is a problem in random PvP.
* 4th match, we cap a second shrine, and then just as enemy team was going on us, half of the team goes elsewhere without any notification and... yea, enemy team kills one half then the other half.

So long.

Fixed it for you.

Mesmer is one of the strongest classes this year, second best, with the assassin being first.Dont look for excuses just because you suck.

3 mesmers however does kinda suck. Focus fire is usually the best tactic, and 3 of the same hexers can't do it.

lol baed players are baed. i get free tot and balth cuz of players like you. The ONLY team build that can spike a target is a team of 3+ Eles. Thats it. The rest is linebacking and pressuring multiple targets to force out what little if any heals the other team has.

I absolutely ROLLLED a team of 3 eles a monk n a sin, because the eles, did not spike a single target. 3 lightning hammers + follow up = a dead person or at least a really close to dead person. Rotate with LOrb and you should just be killing shit every 5s. With just 3 eles.

3 mesmers, if they have any business playing mesmer at all, will absolutely shutdown another caster class. If facing more melee than casters. The Mes not left on a caster, switch to a sin, and just degen them to death. They may get a kill before they die, but there isnt enough heals and hex removal in the game to stop a mesmer from raping a sin.

The mesmer bar is full of win. You just have to know how to play.

By far, the best team i've ran with was a Mes, Monk, Ele, 2 sins. All with good players. Mesmer shutdown monks when their wasn't excessive melee, ele kept melee blind + high dmg output, monk spiked well with sins kd with RoJ, and other sin linebacked other sins to keep our backline free when needed as well.

Only reason we broke our streak was because the monk had to leave.

So I came across a sin on my team who in one match suddenly starts crying about lifestealing. I sort of got confused and thought he was talking about necro life stealing skills but then I remembered that the CB necro bar has no life steals. He elaborated that vampiric weapons are 'gay'. I don't know whether to lol or weep.
